This Privacy Policy describes how your Personal Information is collected, used, and shared when you visit Moniker Eggplant on https://monikereggplant.wordpress.com (refered to as the “Site” throughout the rest of this policy), or make a purchase from Moniker Eggplant’s shop at https://monikereggplant.bandcamp.com (called the “Shop” below).

This policy also states your rights to access, correct, update, or delete Personal Information that we may have stored about you.

Our Site is hosted on wordpress.com, a service provided by Automattic Inc., 60 29th Street #343, San Francisco, CA 94110, United States of America.

Our Shop is hosted on bandcamp.com, a service provided by Bandcamp Inc., 178 Castro St., San Francisco, CA 94114, United States of America.

Collected Personal Information

When you visit either the Site or the Shop, certain information about your device is automatically collected, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device. Additionally, as you browse the Site or the Shop, information about the individual web pages or products that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the Site or the Shop, and information about how you interact with the Site or the Shop is collected. We refer to this automatically-collected information as “Device Information.”

All Device Information is collected and stored by wordpress.com/Automattic Inc. if you visit the Site, or by Bandcamp Inc., if you visit the Shop. Moniker Eggplant does neither collect nor store any Device Information on our own computers.

Encrypted Connection using Transport Layer Security (TLS)

To protect your Personal Information when you are visiting Site or Shop, all requests from your browser and all the responses sent by the servers of Automattic Inc. and Bandcamp Inc. are exclusively exchanged over an encrypted HTTPS connection, using Transport Layer Security (TLS), previously known as Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). You can verify the integrity of the secure connection by clicking on the green padlock icon in your web browser’s address bar, usually on the left side of the URL of the page you are currently viewing. Device Information Is Collected By Means Of The Following Technologies

  • “Cookies” are data files that are placed on your device and often include an anonymous unique identifier. Detailed information about the cookies that are stored on and collected from your device when you are visiting the Site is provided on wordpress.com’ Cookies information page. Information about the cookies that are stored on and collected from your device when you are visiting our Shop is provided in Bandcamp’s Privacy Policy. Generally your web browser offers means to manage, view, and delete the cookies that the Site or the Shop store on your computer. Depending on the specific browser that you use, you can find the relevant documentation in Mozilla’s knowledge base entry about cookies for Firefox, Google Chrome’s Help File about cookie management, or in Apple’s Safari Support section, for example.
  • “Log files” track actions occurring on the Site and the Shop, and collect data including your IP address, browser type, Internet service provider, referring/exit pages, and date/time stamps. Information about which information is collected and how long it is retained using log files when visiting our Site, is available in Automattic Inc.’s Privacy Policy.
  • “Web beacons,” “tags,” and “pixels” are electronic files used to record information about how you browse the Site. WordPress.com’s Cookies information page also includes a paragraph on their use of Web beacons.
  • “Wordpress Stats” is a standard tool on sites like ours that are hosted on wordpress.com. It is also offered by Automattic Inc., 60 29th Street #343, San Francisco, CA 94110, United States of America. WordPress Stats is used to generate statistical surveys about our visitors on the Site using Device Information. It sets cookies with a unique ID on your computer to identify your visit accross different pages of our Site. The Device Information that is collected consists of the date and time of your visit, a rough estimation of the country you are visiting us from based on your IP address, the URL of the page that you are visiting, and the URL of the page you were coming from (the “referer”, if you were redirected to the Site by clicking on a link from another website). This Device Information is transferred to wordpress.com’s/Automattic Inc.’s servers in the USA. All your Personal Information is anonymised before it is stored on wordpress.com/Automattic Inc.’s servers. Bandcamp’s embedded player

To let you listen to the music from Moniker Eggplant’s releases on several pages of our Site, we are using the embedded audio player provided by Bandcamp, operated by Bandcamp Inc., 178 Castro St., San Francisco, CA 94114, United States of America. If you are visiting one of the sites which include bandcamp.com’s embedded audio player (for example the release post for Meier & Erdmann’s LP “Howler Monkey”) a connection between your computer and the bandcamp.com servers is established. Bandcamp.com then receives the URL of the page that you are visiting on our Site.

If you have a personal account on Bandcamp and you are logged in, Bandcamp can link your visit on our Site to your personal account. To prevent this, you can log out from your personal account on bandcamp.com.

Order Information

Additionally when you make a purchase or attempt to make a purchase through the Shop, certain information from you, including your name, billing address, shipping address, payment information (including credit card numbers or Paypal information), email address, and phone number. We refer to this information as “Order Information.”

Newsletter

We occasionally send out e-mails containing news about upcoming Moniker Eggplant releases (the “Newsletter”). If you wish to sign up for these news, you can do so by sending an e-mail to info@monikereggplant.net, explicitely stating that you want to receive the Newsletter. In this case, we will store your e-mail address, in order to deliver Newsletters to your inbox. To be able to cancel your subscription at a later point, we also store the timestamp and text of your sign-up e-mail. No other Device Information will be stored for the Newsletter.

When we talk about “Personal Information” in this Privacy Policy, we are talking both about Device Information and Order Information.

How We Use Your Personal Information

We use the Order Information that we collect generally to fulfill any orders placed through the Shop (including processing your payment information, arranging for shipping, and providing you with invoices and/or order confirmations).

Should you have placed your first order at Moniker Eggplant’s Shop, we will send you an e-mail to the e-mail address provided in your Order Information, asking you if you wish to sign-up for our Newsletter. See above to learn what Personal Information is stored if you decide to receive our Newsletter.

Your Order Information is never used for any other purpose than those stated before.

Newsletter

If you have signed up for our Newsletter, the e-mail adress you have provided will be used solely for the purpose of delivering our occasional Newsletters to your inbox.

Sharing your Personal Information

As already stated, we are using the services of Automattic Inc. to power the Site, and of Bandcamp Inc. to run the Shop, so your Personal Information is collected by them and therefore shared with these parties as described above.

If you are a European resident, you have the right to access personal information we hold about you and to ask that your personal information be corrected, updated, or deleted. If you would like to exercise this right, please contact us through the contact information below or on our dedicated Contact page.

Additionally, if you are a European resident we note that we are processing your information in order to fulfill contracts we might have with you (for example if you make an order through the Shop), or otherwise to pursue our legitimate business interests listed above. Additionally, please note that your information will be transferred outside of Europe, including to the United States of America.

Data Retention

When you place an order through the Site, we will maintain your Order Information for our records unless and until you ask us to delete this information.

If you have signed up for our Newsletter, you can unsubscribe at any point in time simply by stating it in an e-mail to info@monikereggplant.net, or by clicking on the unsubscribe link at the end of any of our newsletters (“Not hungry anymore!”). Upon receiving your unsubscription, your e-mail address, along with the timestamp and text that we had stored at the time of your subscription, is permanently deleted.

Changes

We may update this privacy policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to our practices or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons.
